About biscuitware
Tech Woes Got You Down?
Ever felt like your computer’s speaking a foreign language, or your Wi-Fi’s playing hide-and-seek? Hi, I’m your friendly local tech expert, and I’m here to banish those digital demons with a smile and, often, a good old cup of tea and a chat.
For me, fixing tech isn’t just about pressing buttons; it’s about making sure you understand what’s going on. I don’t just swoop in, work my magic, and vanish. Nope! I’ll happily explain everything in plain English, so you know exactly what I’ve done and why. Think of me as your personal tech translator, here for the long haul. That’s why folks keep coming back – we build a proper relationship, not just a one-off fix.
My love for helping people goes way beyond screens and wires. I’m proud to volunteer as a Community First Responder with South Central Ambulance Service, and I’m a Governor for Western Downland School. Plus, I even did a stint as a volunteer police officer! It’s just in my nature to lend a hand and make a difference in our wonderful community.
My journey into the wonderful world of tech started with an Acorn Electron back in the 80s (yes, I’m showing my age!), and then I truly fell head-over-heels for computers with my Apple Mac LC 475. I’ve been a happy tinkerer ever since, always curious and genuinely interested in learning new things (and meeting new people!).
So, if your gadgets are giving you grief, or you just fancy a friendly chat about getting more from your tech, pop the kettle on and let’s sort it out together!
About me & biscuitware
It’s great to finally put a face (and a story!) to the name. I’m Andrew Carr, and I’m the friendly chap behind biscuitware. While I spend my days helping local folks with their tech troubles, my passion for computers and helping others actually dates back to my college days in the 1990s.
That’s where the name “biscuitware” comes from! Back then, if you liked a piece of software, you might share it (shareware), send the developer a postcard (postcardware), or simply enjoy it for free (freeware). For me, when I helped out my local school with their tech, their payment often came in the form of delicious biscuits! It was a brilliant exchange – my early tech support for a sweet treat.
So, when it came to naming my business, “biscuitware” just felt right. It’s a nod to those early days, my love for a good biscuit, and, of course, the “cup of tea and a chat” approach I bring to all my tech support. It perfectly sums up my friendly, no-fuss way of working.
My promise to You
What you can expect: When you invite me into your home (or we chat over the phone!), you can always expect patience, clear explanations, and a friendly face. I’m here to solve your tech headaches, not add to them!
No tech jargon, just real solutions: I promise to speak your language, not ‘geek speak.’ My goal is to make sure you understand what’s going on with your devices and feel confident using them.
Your peace of mind: Ultimately, I want you to feel empowered and stress-free with your technology, knowing you have a trusted local expert just a call away.
Why I Do What I Do
The joy of helping: There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing someone’s face light up when their tech finally clicks into place, or when a frustrating problem simply vanishes. That’s why I do this!
Community spirit at heart: Just like my volunteering with the South Central Ambulance Service and as a school governor, my business is all about contributing positively to our local community, one happy tech user at a time.
My lifelong tinkering passion: From my very first Acorn Electron, I’ve loved pulling things apart (and usually putting them back together!) to see how they work. That lifelong curiosity is what I bring to every tech challenge you face.
My Approach
It starts with a conversation: Before I even touch a keyboard, we’ll have a proper chat – perhaps over a cup of tea! – about what’s going on. I want to understand your needs and concerns fully.
Teaching, not just fixing: My philosophy isn’t just about fixing the immediate issue. I love to explain things simply, so you gain confidence and maybe even pick up a few tech tips along the way.
Building lasting relationships: I’m not a one-and-done service. I aim to be your go-to tech person for the long run, building a trusted relationship so you always know who to call.
Honest and transparent: You’ll always get straightforward advice and clear pricing. No surprises, just honest help.
